I appreciate your comment. I must admit when I saw The Devil in title, I sort of gulped and said ooh noo. *smiles* And. After my first reading of your article, I am more optimistic about "confronting" my shadow friend this week. But. It will be challenging... I had planned to "push" forward on some emotional and mental "intentions" today and later this week; but I will now first "rest" in reflection & dialogue with this shadow aspect of me. It will be challenging *smiles*. Thanks again for tge "information and direction." \(*_*)/

The Devil card is one of the 'scary' cards if you take it at face value. It has all of the imagery of Christian mythology, but when you dig into the impact of the card on a reading, it becomes clearer that what this card is really about is that Jungian shadow self, and how we need to engage with it. Similarly, the Death and the 10 of swords card, also traditionally 'scary' cards of the Tarot, have a much less scary feeling when you understand that in every ending lies a new beginning; that we must have endings to have new beginnings; and for that matter, all beginnings carry within them an ending.

When I see the Devil pop up in a reading, I want to dig into the reading and start exploring why that card popped up. Quite often querents who have had abuse issues will have the Devil appear when they are starting the real work of addressing the abuse: the source, the impact, and defining a path to healing. It's particularly interesting when it is a recurring card. I wrote my doctorate on the statistical & practical significance of recurring cards in the Tarot, so when i say 'interesting', what I really mean is "let's dig deeper here, because it's significant."

Thanks so much for your comprehensive reply. Much "interesting" insight! I understand all your references. You have depth of knowledge. That is why I read--and then review daily-- each of your posts. Earlier this year the heavens led me to Jung's depth psychology studies and also certain Tarot sources. Of course, I have a only a ignorant layman's of astrology *chuckles* So, I do not have the comprehensive knowledge and experience you have to weave the three occults together to form a meaningful and practicable interpretation. Clearly. Truly the heavens led me to you. And. This is a good time--during 2018 through 2026 Long Year of Uranus *laughs*. But, tod, Thursday, my innate trepidation on Tuesday when you introduced The Devil cardis no longer in me. *smiles* Each day, about three times a day, I re-read your reading. Slowly. I am owning and understanding that aspect of my shadow. The Royal We and She are sorting it out *smiles* I am sincerely thankful for these teachings. *smiles* even in spite of the continuning turbulence and influence of Uranus on ALL us until ( I think you wrote in last week's reading ) until mid-April next year! *HA, HA, HA!* 2018 through 2026 is a long and very long year! I guess I'm being prepared for the new day!

Thank you! The devil card is not my favorite, but as with all the Tarot cards with a 'negative' cast, I think it's important to understand what it brings to a reading! (My favorite is the Death card. One would expect that as I am a trained end-of-life doula)
